G-Shock comes back for a second set of collaborative watches with the animated UK band, Gorillaz. Earlier last year, the two popular entities came together on a grouping of watches in various colorways, depicting the members of the popular world-renowned band. Each watch sold out instantly on their initial drop, with the collection reselling at a high value. So it was a no brainer for G-Shock and Gorillaz to join forces again, giving music and horological lovers what they want!

This time around, the two dropped only two watches, one of which was designed to promote their latest album The Now Now. After the positive response of their first collection, we decided to not miss out on the hype and do our own wear-test review.

G-Shock’s DW-5600 is a classic silhouette that’s all too familiar in the watch community. Its innovative design is apart of the first few watches that helped jumpstart the brand back in the 80s and has since pushed the boundaries of what can be done on a digital watch. The latest product of the Gorillaz collaboration is the latest example of said developments.

Off the bat, the thing that makes everyone gravitate towards the watch is its color. The Gorillaz are an unconventional band to say the least, and always bring color with their music, so seeing it done to this project is very on brand. The color scheme for this model draws the same color scheme of their The Now Now album, with NOW being printed on the strap keeper in the same colors. The colors that the watch boast definitely were an eye-catcher and head-turner, as I was stopped multiple times around the office for the watch that was on my wrist and sparked conversation about the Gorillaz and even G-Shock.

Secondly, aesthetics aside, the watch is just an easy fit to anyone’s wrist. It seamlessly fits into anyone’s lifestyle and is there when you need it to be, as any good watch should. Despite its world-renowned durability and jam-packed features, such as Bluetooth connectivity and solar power activation, the DW-5600 is incredibly light. So light that, at times, I would forget that I was wearing it, until I needed the time of course.

Overall, the second addition to G-Shock’s collaboration with the Gorillaz leaves fans of the band and the watch beyond satisfied. The two have found a great mix between functionality and aesthetics by providing eye catching colors and reliable construction. Make sure to check out this watch from their recent drop and previous colorways from their first collaboration all on StockX!
