Supreme has reunited with one of their most exciting collaborators, releasing a brand new collection with Stone Island. Through their partnership with the Italian apparel company, Supreme has dropped some of the most innovative designs in their brand history, particularly in the realm of outerwear. This collection continues that legacy, carrying the experimental spirit of the past forward into the future, which actually feels like a long time ago in a galaxy far far away. The most recent iteration of this coveted collaboration delivered a timely collection for the winter of 2020, releasing down jackets with built in face masks and balaclavas that glow in the dark.

The collection includes more than 30 new Supreme x Stone Island pieces, including two hand painted hooded shearling jackets. Similar to past partnerships between the two brands, the collection carries a heavy focus on outerwear, adding eight new jacket styles to their catalog. The Supreme x Stone Island Painted Camo Crinkle Down Jacket steals the show, delivering innovative coloring and a face mask that folds down out of the hood and gives off major Star Wars vibes. Outside of outerwear, the collaboration also included hoodies, t-shirts, pants, hats, balaclavas, and shoulder bags. The t-shirts were released in four colorways and feature embroidered Supreme x Stone Island logos. Two of the t-shirts were made available in an eye-catching paint splatter reminiscent of the late Jackson Pollockā€™s work.

The most exciting part of Supreme and Stone Islandā€™s FW20 collection is what theyā€™ve done to innovate and experiment with the staples of the winter wardrobe. Thereā€™s likely nothing that fits winter 2020 better than a Down Jacket with a built in face mask. Though the jacket looks like something out of a sci-fi movie, its design is as timely as ever. With the increased need and usage of the face mask, itā€™s only a matter of time before the tried and true staples of our wardrobes begin to adapt. Thatā€™s what this collaboration does so well. It takes pieces weā€™ve come to know and love, and makes them work for us more than they ever have. The collaboration also included a balaclava that glows in the dark, delivering utility for a different use-case but with the same innovative spirits. Headgear that keeps you warm and visible at the same time means this yearā€™s night runs in the cold might be your safest and warmest ever.

The functional design innovations of Supreme and Stone Islandā€™s FW20 collection adds to a rich historical record of new and exciting apparel items. In the spring of 2015, the two brands released a waterproof trench coat that changed color as it became exposed to heat and in 2017 they dropped a Puffy Jacket with a built in Balaclava. Stone Island is a brand that is known for its application of technology and research and their collaborations with Supreme never cease to put that at the forefront. You may not have thought that your favorite streetwear brand would be helping to define how the future of our wardrobe functions but here we are. Hopefully the future of our wardrobe will make us all look a little more like characters from Star Wars.
