Supreme x Jim Henson’s Muppet Workshop
In early 2008, mysterious posters appeared in NYC and LA featuring a photo of Kermit the Frog wearing a Supreme box logo tee. Rumors swirled as whether this was an official collaboration from Supreme, or simply the work of someone independently wheat-pasting posters around the downtown area. Fans would soon come to find out that this was the announcement of one of the most legendary collaborations in Supreme’s history.

Shortly after the mysterious posters posters appeared, it was announced that famous photographer Terry Richardson would be holding an exhibition at Colette in Paris featuring the photos of Kermit the Frog. When the official announcement was made, the streetwear community lost it’s collective mind. The news was especially surprising given that Supreme had been threatened with legal action over the use of another Jim Henson character in their 2005 Raekwon Tee, Elmo.

The release of the Kermit the Frog capsule collection was highlighted by the t-shirts, which came in a variety of colors and are now among the most iconic t-shirts released in Supreme’s history. The graphic features a simple portrait of Kermit the Frog, wearing the custom box logo t-shirt produced specifically for the Terry Richardson shoot. Other photos from the shoot were also released to the public, and included long-time store employee Ty Lyons.

Alongside the t-shirts, Supreme also teamed up with Japanese toy manufacturer Medicom Toy to produce a limited edition “Kubrick” toy, which came in a blister pack. This accessory is now a rare and hard to find collector’s item.
As is common with most of Supreme’s marquee releases, complimentary stickers were given out with orders both in-store and online. The once freebie stickers are now worth hundreds of dollars each, making them the most affordable piece of this collection, if you’re looking to get your hands on something.

The Skateboard Decks
While the t-shirts, accessories, and stickers are important in their own right, no part of this capsule is more significant than the skateboard decks. The decks came in yellow, red, and blue colorways and feature Kermit in a different pose than the t-shirt, positioned over Supreme’s iconic box logo. Today, these decks are some of the most coveted skateboards that the brand has ever released.
