Supreme x Nike has become an institutional partnership. The two brands have worked together for years, dropping new sneakers and apparel every season, and 2021 is no different. After dropping a restock of the Supreme Nike Air Force 1 for SS21 Week 1, the two have reconvened to deliver another collaboration for Week 2. For this seasonā€™s silhouette, Supreme and Nike have released four colorways of an SB Dunk Low. This new Supreme Nike SB Dunk also features a major reference to the brandā€™s work with Nike from the early 2000ā€™s. Supreme and Nike dropped three colorways of a Dunk High in 2003 that featured the same stars pattern as SS21ā€™s Dunk Low. No stranger to the popular Nike SB silhouette, Supreme is hitting us with an updated blast from the past that feels right on time.

Supreme and Nikeā€™s last SB Dunk Low just missed the recent swell of popularity for the silhouette. The two brands collaborated on three colorways of a Nike SB Dunk Low in September of 2019, only months before the sneaker exploded into the prime of its popularity in 2020. Last year was dubbed the ā€œYear of the Dunkā€ and while it may seem like Supreme and Nike may have missed the party with their SS21 release, the hype around this drop proves that the moment hasnā€™t passed just yet. This seasonā€™s Supreme Nike SB Dunk Lows feature faux croc skin overlays and gold stars printed on the medial panel; details that pay homage to the Nike SB Dunk High Supreme, one of the most recognizable and sought after Dunks of all time. All three colorways of those 2003 Nike SB Dunk Highs resell for over $3,500 USD on average and if thatā€™s any indication, this seasonā€™s Dunk Lows are likely to be a solid investment piece. Prior to the release, each colorway of the SS21 Supreme Nike SB Dunk was resold on StockX for over $1,000 USD and the average resale price on drop day was over $800 USD.

Going into the Spring/Summer 2021 season, there were several rumors about what the year may have in store for fans of Supreme and Nike. The first rumor in circulation was that the two brands would finally be releasing the Low version of the 2003 Supreme Nike SB Dunk High. Now that the Dunk Lows have officially released, rabid fans will likely turn their attention to the next two rumors. If the rumblings are true, itā€™s possible that Supreme will end up hitting three of Nikeā€™s most popular sneaker silhouettes in 2021: the Dunk, the Jordan 1, and the AF1. It hasnā€™t been officially confirmed but Supreme and Nike are said to be releasing a collaborative Jordan 1 at some point this year and leaks suggest that the Jordan 1 will also feature golden star details. The final rumor making its way around the World Wide Web is that Supreme and Nike will be adding a new colorway to their current fleet of Air Force 1ā€™s. With the arrival of the Dunk Low fulfilling at least one of the prophesied Supreme x Nike drops in 2021, fans may have faith that the Jordan 1s and new AF1s will drop as well. While we canā€™t confirm that either of these rumored sneakers will actually release, we do know that Supreme has started 2021 off with a bang. After delivering a KAWS collaboration in Week 1 and four new Dunk Lows with Nike in Week 2, fans of the brand should be prepared for all gas and no brakes this year.Ā
