November 30, 2021 [DETROIT]  — Following a year marked by global expansion and product diversification, StockX announced today that it had a record-breaking Cyber Weekend, offering further proof that in-demand, current culture products are a go-to purchase for the next generation holiday shopper. Over the four-day Cyber Weekend, StockX saw buyers and sellers in nearly 150 different countries and territories around the world, demonstrating that current culture commerce is truly global. On Black Friday, the platform set new single-day records for trades, total buyers, and total sellers.

“In a year defined by supply chain challenges, we made big investments in our global network. Together with our never-out-of-stock model, this afforded customers access to more than 150,000 products that often aren’t stocked on the shelves of traditional retailers,” said Scott Cutler, CEO of StockX. “With the holiday season upon us, this access to coveted items on StockX led to more than a trade every second on Black Friday.”

During Cyber Weekend alone, StockX facilitated trades of over 350 different brands across deadstock products ranging from sneakers to the platform’s Energy categories, which includes Apparel & Accessories, Electronics, and Collectibles & Trading Cards. More specifically, continued demand for the 2020 PlayStation 5 helped Sony maintain the top spot in electronics this year, while Supreme’s newest collaboration with Tiffany & Co pushed it to the No. 1 spot in apparel. In the collectibles space, LEGO trades are surging, with holiday-themed sets helping fuel demand. Pokémon led the trading cards category thanks to the success of the recently-released Celebrations set, which commemorates the brand’s 25th anniversary. Finally, Telfar ranked as the top-selling handbag brand on the platform, powered by a hugely successful collaboration with UGG.

On the sneaker front, holiday releases, women’s exclusives, and grade school editions drove record-breaking trades. Nike and Jordan Brand lead the sneaker category thanks to the success of much-loved silhouettes like the Jordan 1 Retro and Nike Dunk Low. Additionally, the holiday release Jordan 11 Retro Cool Grey (2021) ranked as the No. 1 best-selling sneaker of the weekend, while the women’s exclusive Jordan 11 Animal Instinct (W) and grade-school size Nike Dunk Low Retro White Black (GS) showcased the diversity of current culture footwear. In addition to favoring these new releases, shoppers also demonstrated their continued affection for classic silhouettes and colorways, including the 2007 Nike Air Force 1 White, which ranked as the No. 3 top-traded sneaker overall.
