Since its founding almost a century ago, Gucci has made its mark across the world when it comes to innovation and ingenuity in the handbag and fashion industry. Gucci’s influential reach has gone far beyond its beginnings in Italy to become a household name synonymous with luxury. Gucci has attracted an incredibly wide array of loyal supporters - everyone from Sophia Loren to Ronald Reagan to Tracee Ellis-Ross have been seen sporting the fashion brand’s designs through the years. While it started in Florence, Gucci now has stores practically everywhere, from the U.S. to South Africa, Russia and China. You can also buy and sell Gucci goods online. Gucci’s ascension to elite fashion house began with its classic bamboo bags, instantly recognizable GG logo and green-red webbing. In 1932, Gucci expanded his repertoire of leather goods and created his signature loafer. Worn by everyone from Peter Sellers to Francis Ford Coppola, Wiz Khalifa and Bruno Mars, the shoe is the only footwear on display in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. In addition to the bamboo bag, created the “Constance Bag,” a classic hobo bag that was understated, easy to carry and seamlessly matched any outfit. It quickly became a favorite of style icon Jacqueline Onassis. She wore it so well that Gucci ended up renaming it in her honor to the “Jackie Bag.” Gucci's sons expanded the brand globally, setting up new stores in New York, Paris, Beverly Hills, London, Palm Beach and Tokyo. In addition to its already established classic bags, Gucci added many other handbag styles into its brand including the Sukey, Boston, Pelham, Stirrup and 1973 collection. The GG canvas diamond pattern was introduced on leather in the last decade and called Guccissima (literally meaning “So Gucci”). Over 100 years after Guccio Gucci went to London as a migrant worker and returned to set up a saddlery shop in his hometown of Florence, Gucci’s commitment to craftsmanship and style has kept the brand grounded, ushering it into a modern era where it continues to be embraced by customers across the world.
