The Alexander Wang is a fashion brand led by creative director Alexander Wang. The American designer left his studies at the Parsons School of Design and eventually founded his eponymous label in 2005. His first collection focused on unisex knitwear, and he debuted his first women's ready-to-wear line in Fall 2007. In 2008, he also launched his first bag collection.
The luxury brand is known for high-end apparel inspired by streetwear trends, but that description is very general. What keeps Wang's designs fresh and relevant is the fact that he is incredibly creative, constantly evolving, and seamlessly weaves diverse inspirations into his creations. His pieces and collections have been described as urban chic, street style, edgy rebellion, sleek minimalism, and gothic grunge. And that list continues to grow. A 2024 show debuted provocative designs such as slits, severe cropping, and a leather studded harness. Over the years, Alexander Wang expanded his brand to include shoes and menswear, as well as a bridge line called T by Alexander Wang where laid-back and casual tees, hoodies, and sweatpants take center stage.
There are collaborations, from Balenciaga to H&M and Bvlgari. The adidas collaboration with Alexander Wang produced many limited-edition sneakers such as the adidas AW Skate Alexander Wang Sand in spice orange and core black. The adidas AW BBall Alexander Wang Grey Cream was retooled by Wang and was dressed in neutral hues. The brand remains a significant presence in the luxury streetwear fashion industry.
