Karhu

Karhu (meaning “bear" in Finnish) is a sports brand founded in 1916 by Ab sportartiklar Oy in downtown Helsinki. The brand started by making javelins, discuses, and skis but eventually transitioned to creating and designing running shoes. The brand developed the nickname “Flying Finns" for how fast Finnish runners ran in the shoes, with famed runner Paavo Nurmi winning nine gold medals wearing the brand. In the 1952 Olympics, Finland won a whopping 15 gold medals while wearing the shoes as well.

Karhu shoes feature a unique design and logo, the famous “M". The “M" stands for “Mestari," which means “champion" in Finnish. Although the design now resembles an “M," the brand is also credited to the design of the three stripes logo, which was sold to adidas in 1952.

In addition to its renowned logo, one of the most interesting and advanced designs that the brand implements today is the “Ortix Fit." After analyzing scans of more than 2 million feet, the brand was able to come up with a shoe that can accommodate the volume and shape of the typical foot. This new technology allows the shoe to have “near-custom fit" right off the bat.

Today, you yourself can own a pair of Karhu shoes, like the Karhu Fusion 2.0 Gunmetal Black with coveted Fulcrum Technology for all your running and even casual needs. They come in a variety of colors and designs, and, of course, with the classic “M" logo! Allow your shoes to fit like a glove with this historic and classic brand.
