[DETROIT] July 1, 2021 StockX today announced a multi-year partnership with contemporary artist Daniel Arsham designed to put artists first and disrupt the global arts community. The multifaceted partnership — which makes StockX the official resale marketplace for Daniel Arsham editions — establishes a Daniel Arsham x StockX Next Gen Scholarship Fund at New York’s historic The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Additionally it helps create a more equitable compensation framework for artist-brand relationships by affording up-and-coming artists the opportunity to benefit directly from exclusive product releases on the secondary market.

“Artists are often left out of the conversation when it comes to compensation, particularly as it relates to the secondary market. This relationship turns that model on its head and serves as a disruptive force in an otherwise outmoded system,” Arsham said of the partnership. “I’m excited to create and release exclusive products to which people might not otherwise have access but more than anything, my work with StockX is about leveling the playing field for artists and giving back to the next generation through this incredibly innovative arts education fund.”

The full scope of the partnership is concentrated in three focus areas: supporting the next generation through arts education funding, amplifying rising artists and creating a model for equitable compensation through direct-to-consumer releases, and establishing a trusted secondary marketplace for Daniel Arsham products.

“Daniel is one of the foremost contemporary artists of our time and is someone who speaks directly to our audience in a meaningful way there is no one better suited to help us build and grow the art prints category but also to work in partnership with us to support young creators,” said Deena Bahri, StockX CMO. “StockX is an inherently disruptive platform that levels the playing field by offering price transparency and true market visibility. This innovative partnership serves as another important example of our commitment to rewriting rules and unlocking access to products that have long been out of reach for the many.”

More on the elements of this innovative new partnership below:

Daniel Arsham x StockX Next Gen Scholarship Fund

The newly launched scholarship fund will support students studying at The Cooper Union’s internationally renowned School of Art, of which Arsham is an alumnus. StockX will donate revenue from the sale of all art prints, a product category the company officially announced in conjunction with the partnership. Arsham will serve in an advisory role as the much-anticipated category continues to grow. In addition, he will release a series of works that will be made available exclusively on StockX, and proceeds from the sales of these products will also be donated to the fund.

“Since graduating from The Cooper Union, Daniel has built an enviable practice that straddles art, architecture, and performance, which at its heart focuses on collaboration,” said Laura Sparks, President of The Cooper Union. “It comes as no surprise that Daniel is creating innovative partnerships like this one to help support fellow artists. The scholarships from this fund will change lives.”

Supporting Young Artists

Arsham will curate a special DropX product release series that will afford new artists the opportunity to release products directly to a global audience. StockX’s product release framework allows artists to share in the financial upside from both the official release as well as every resale on the platform, setting a more equitable standard for revenue sharing.
