Less than a year after adidas released its NMD collection, the brand decided to take things a step further by introducing the adidas NMD City Sock collection. Also known as the adidas NMD CS1 collection, it was similar to the original NMD collection in that most of its sneakers featured PrimeKnit uppers and full-length Boost midsoles. But the sneakers found in the City Sock collection also had sock-like designs that allowed adidas to make all of them laceless.

The first few adidas NMD CS1 sneakers were on the simpler side in terms of design and color. The adidas NMD City Sock White Grey, for example, had a fairly basic design with alternating pops of grey and white. The adidas NMD City Sock Gum Pack White and adidas NMD City Sock Gum Pack Black sneakers both followed its lead.

As the adidas NMD CS1 collection evolved, though, adidas started to inject more color and bolder designs into the mix. The adidas NMD CS1 Parley Blue Spirit showed how much life could be added to the CS1’s silhouette simply by adding a light blue color to it. The adidas NMD CS1 Bold Branding Black, meanwhile, made the City Sock impossible to miss as it carried the bright white letters NMD on the sides of it set against a black backdrop that really make them pop.
