Tobie Hatfield designed the Nike Presto when he grew frustrated by the fit of existing shoes. See More
The Nike Presto traces its origin to the 1990s. In developing this shoe, Tobie Hatfield wanted footwear that would work with the wearer. He knew people wanted a comfortable and supportive piece of equipment. Before the Presto, athletes like runners sometimes felt as if their shoes were barriers they had to overcome. The use of a V-notch to achieve perfect fit was initially a key part of the design for the Nike Presto. After about four years in development, the Presto launched in 2000. Using spacer mesh, formerly best known for medical applications, allowed the shoe to both stretch and breathe. Since 2000, there have been many unique and innovative editions of this shoe, such as the X Logos, showcasing all of Nike's historical logos. The brightly-colored, sock-like Air Presto Mid Acronym Racer is a coveted iteration. The classic Air Presto Off-White is also a fan favorite. Whatever the colorway, the unique silhouette of the Presto always looks great.
