The Rolex Datejust was initially launched in 1945 and is the first self-winding wristwatch that also shows the date at 3 o'clock on the dial. Over the years, it has become known for being a symbol of the timeless elegance that Rolex is known for, as well as a major milestone in watchmaking. It embodies the belief of Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf that watchmaking progress should always encourage human progress.

In addition to displaying the date through a magnified Cyclops lens, the Rolex Datejust is also waterproof, similar to the Rolex Submariner. The Rolex Datejust is not only stylish but is also comfortable and practical.

To enhance the beauty of the Rolex Datejust, a special Jubilee bracelet was designed for the company's 40th anniversary. This bracelet features five rows of metal links and an elegant metal clasp, as well as splashes of gold that add further distinction to the model. Since it was released, it has been highly praised for its fluid contours and design.

A woman’s version of the classic Rolex Datejust was released in 1957, known as the Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust. This model is as reliable and useful as the original, but has a smaller diameter. When the Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust was initially released, it had a diameter of 26 mm. Today, it has a diameter of 28 mm. New models, including those with mother-of-pearl and diamonds, like the Rolex Datejust 179173 are released regularly to refresh the classic design that has become a staple of this brand.
