The Nike Cryoshot Zoom M9 Virgil Abloh Archives is the Virgil Abloh Archives' contribution to Nike's X2 World Cup collection representing the United States, built on the Nike Zoom M9, the boot Nike made as Mia Hamm's signature cleat that she wore during the United States Women's National Team's 1999 Women's World Cup championship victory, making it the only women's athlete signature boot in Nike's football history and giving this X2 pair a specific historic significance distinct from all other boots in the Cryoshot collection. The Archives apply Virgil Abloh's signature design language including logo-heavy and text-forward graphic execution in a clean White upper with University Red and Black accents, preserving the Zoom M9's original construction while translating the late designer's visual identity into the boot's surfaces, with the Cryoshot's translucent outsole encasing the Zoom M9's original stud configuration as a tribute to Hamm's on-pitch legacy alongside Abloh's creative legacy. The Virgil Abloh Archives was established to continue the late designer's creative work and cultural contributions following his passing in November 2021, with the Zoom M9 collaboration representing one of the most significant activations of the Archive's ongoing curatorial practice within the Nike relationship that Abloh maintained throughout his career as creative director of Louis Vuitton Men's and founder of Off-White.
