New Balance 550 Sneakers

The New Balance 550 sneaker was first introduced in the 1980s as a performance basketball shoe. Its popularity and success on the court led to its expansion into other athletic arenas, as well as its popularity among casual wearers. Today, the 550 is a retro-style sneaker that has become a popular fashion statement.

Sneakers in the New Balance 550 collection have a chunky, low-profile silhouette with a rubber sole that offers excellent grip and support. The shoes feature a padded collar and cushioned insole for added comfort during activities. The sneakers also offer bold color-blocking and distinct branding, which, in our opinion, are key aspects of its retro design. The 550 sneakers also include collaborations with various fashion designers and artists. One notable collaboration was with the Japanese fashion label, Comme des Garçons which resulted in the release of the New Balance 550 Comme Des Garcons Homme Black.

A distinct characteristic of New Balance 550 sneakers is the leather and suede upper, which is designed to provide durability, and the New Balance branding on the side, which usually features a large “N.” This is evident in sneakers like the New Balance 550 White Black.

While New Balance 550 sneakers were originally designed for basketball, they work well with a variety of other New Balance Apparel, including athletic apparel and accessories. It pairs well with everything from basketball shorts and track pants to denim jeans and casual jackets. The sneaker's bold design also allows it to complement a range of fashion-forward items, making it a versatile addition to any wardrobe.
