Yayoi Kusama

The Yayoi Kusama brand was founded by none other than Yayoi Kusama herself in the late 1960s. At the very beginning, Kusama was selling avant-garde fashion pieces at Bloomingdale’s, which was called “Kusama Corner.” Her designs were heavily influenced by the anti-Vietnam War movement and other political happenings in the US. Soon, her designs gained popularity and began to be sold in stores across the US, and finally, she opened her own boutique shop in 1969. Yayoi Kusama continues to be a coveted brand today because of its vibrant designs.

The design that has become synonymous with the Yayoi Kusama brand is arguably the polka dots. Often seen in different sizes and in red, green, and yellow, these polka dots tend to dominate items across her fashion line. For example, the Yayoi Kusama Pumpkin Coin Purse is a small coin purse with a clasp at the top featuring black polka dots in different sizes on top of a bright yellow background. Those looking for items that can be used in action can check out the Yayoi Kusama Red Dots Skateboard Deck with Small Dots. This skateboard deck contains small red polka dots of different sizes. Yayoi Kusama also makes items like plush figures and snow globes, among other items.

The Yayoi Kusama brand gained fame for its vibrant designs and continues to make products that stand out from the crowd. However, you will need something to pair your Yayoi Kusama items with. You can check out bags from brands like Louis Vuitton to keep your coin purse in, for example.
