IWC Schaffhausen is a watch manufacturer based in eastern Switzerland, founded by and American watchmaker 150 years ago. Known for their Portuguese and Pilot’s line of watches, IWC has a rich heritage when it comes to tool watches. Their product catalog stretches deep across six distinct collections, and covers everything from simple three-handers to complex Siderale and chiming complications. Many of the watches offered by IWC feature the brands own, in-house designed and built movements, and remain true to themes the company has developed over generations. Trademark models within the IWC collection are the Ingenieur, Pilot’s Watches, and the Portuguese. They’ve each got a story to tell, from a Gerald Genta design with the Ingenieur; ties to the WWII Royal Air Force with the Pilot’s watches; and stylish, wrist worn marine chronometers with the Portuguese. IWC Schaffhausen engineer tool watches with a nod toward practicality, contemporary design, and heritage. Don’t be surprised to find high level craftsmanship in the finishing, as well as high tech systems (like efficient winding mechanisms and date-change windows) at work within the movements.
