The Nike Air Max 97 Pure Platinum University Red was released more than 20 years after the introduction of the original Air Max 97 sneaker. It features the same silhouette as the original sneaker with a few subtle upgrades.

Like the Air Max 97 that dropped in 1997, this sneaker has a mesh upper that is complemented by leather overlays. It has a bright-red patent leather mudguard as well as an embroidered Nike swoosh. The upper part of the sneaker is also reflective to make it pop when the lights are low.

But the thing our experts love most about this shoe was the same thing they fell in love with when the first Air Max 97 was unveiled­ — the large air bubble on the bottom.
