After spending the first decade of his NBA career wearing signature sneakers made by Converse and then the Jordan brand, Dwyane Wade left some people scratching their heads when he announced that he was signing a sneaker deal with a Chinese athletic apparel and sneaker company called Li-Ning. This company was founded in 1990 by a former world-class gymnast and Olympian named Li Ning, but up until that point, it hadn’t made much headway in the U.S. That all started to change when Wade agreed to get on board with the brand.

Since Wade made the decision to leave Converse and Jordan behind, other NBA players have followed his lead. Jimmy Butler, Fred VanVleet, and C.J. McCollum are just a few of the other NBA stars who have earned their own signature Li-Ning sneakers. But Wade, who signed a lifetime contract with the company in 2018, has more Li-Ning sneakers than all of the other NBA players combined.

One thing you’ll notice as you look through the different sneakers Li-Ning has produced for NBA players is that they’re far from basic. From the Way of Wade 10 Team No Sleep created for Wade to the Jimmy Butler 1 Miami Black, it’s clear the brand utilizes bold design choices and lots of colors in all of its sneakers. These items have turned into staples when it comes to its lineup of basketball sneakers, and they’ve helped the company stand apart from many of the better-known brands that specialize in developing basketball shoes.
