The New Balance 990v2 is the second iteration of the OG 990, which was initially released in 1982. First released in 1998, the 990v2 maintains the recognizable silhouette and high-quality craftsmanship associated with the OG model. However, it delivers a repurposed upper and updated sole technologies. The V2 is part of a collection of sneakers that have become one of New Balance’s flagship products and have gained a place in pop culture history as "dad shoes."

The 990v2 includes the New Balance’s ABZORB midsole, which sticks out of the heel and absorbs shock. Pigskin suede overlays sit across the mesh upper, while the suede lace cage houses a large, mesh tongue. The words 'made in USA’ and ‘990 New Balance’ are embroidered across the tongue. Although all iterations of the 990 are manufactured in the USA, the 990v2 was the first version to include ‘made in USA’ on the outside of the sneaker.

What makes the New Balance 990v2 stand out from other versions of the OG sneaker is the distinct color blocking seen on the upper and occasionally along the midsole. Many of the 990v2 colorways lend themselves to bold contrast, such as the New Balance 990v2 Kith Cyclades’ (without Socks) Rust and Parchment color scheme. Other models come with more subdued color schemes, like the New Balance 990v2 Kith Tannin, which features Tanning and silver.

While New Balance 990v2 primarily offers shoes in the men’s footwear and women’s footwear categories, the label also provides toddler sizes.
