The Nike Zoom LeBron 5 was released on October 10th, 2007. This shoe features bold embellishments, including a wide strap with a grille feature that crosses over the laces, emerging from a shiny, metallic box; a detail that is not seen often in athletic footwear. Apart from aesthetic appeal, the technology involved in this shoe is also impressive. The LeBron 5 uses a Phyposite shell, which is an improvement from the 4's Foamposite construction. It's a lighter-weight material but still a strong choice. In 2007, the LeBron 5 was notable for being released in additional high school colors, beyond those of his alma mater. Since then, popular colorways for the 5 have included the sleek, shiny Black/Black-Varsity Crimson-Metallic Gold and the bold Gorge Green/White-Metallic Gold. More muted takes on the 5 include the All-Star Game colorway in Metallic Silver/Metallic Silver-Varsity Red. It features striking Red over-stitching in the heel panel and a Silver-speckled sole.
