Founded by François Salomon in 1947 in Annecy, France, Salomon is an outdoor sports equipment company that made its name through its high-quality ski equipment, but now boasts a reputation for their sneakers and accessories. Salomon began their journey manufacturing skis, and eventually started to produce bindings which would lead them to become the world's #1 binding manufacturer and a heavily featured brand in the 1966 Olympic Games. In the 1990s, Salomon expanded from skiing and entered the hiking industry with trail shoes. One of the first sneaker lines offered by Salomon was the Speedcross, which was also the first silhouette to bridge the gap between performance and lifestyle for the brand. Capitalizing on this, Salomon launched S/Lab, a signature line that focuses on collaborating with athletes, designers, and engineers to create some of the most high-performance shoes in hiking and winter sports.
