Born in Argentina but based in Milan Italy since his teen years in the 1990s, Marcelo Burlon is the creative director of his namesake brand Marcelo Burlon: Country of Milan. Having been a co-founder of New Guards Group in 2015, Burlon partnered with Claudio Antonioli and Davide De Giglio to create an Italy-based fashion production and distribution company that has produced events for major fashion houses.
Burlon’s rise through the Italian fashion stratosphere began In 1998 when he was responsible for entry to Magazzini Generali, Milan’s top nightlife destination of the era. Playing this role, Burlon became friends with many up and coming designers, who went on to become his professional clients. With this background, it is no surprise that Burlon created his own fashion label, Marcelo Burlon: Country of Milan, which is inspired by Argentina’s Patagonia region and 1990s club style. Burlon began by producing t-shirts with bold designs, like the Marcelo Burlon Icon Wings Graphic T-shirt White motif, in which feather imagery encircles the crew neckline and spreads over and down the shoulders. Within the brand’s first year of existence, the Icon Wings tee became represented in over 80 stores worldwide, a presence grown by word of mouth excitement over the pioneering design.
While its iconic rendition of a simple tee propelled Marcelo Burlon: Country of Milan onto the worldwide fashion scene, the company was quick to expand its assortment into a range of other products, including hoodies, cut and sewn shirting, and a range of bottoms, in everything from denim to jacquard.
