In 2008, Jordan Brand released the entire collection of Air Jordan shoes in the form of "Countdown Packs" that included releases like the Air Jordan III Black Cement CDP. The CDP collection was intended to celebrate 23 years of Air Jordan models from 1985 to 2008, with 2-pack releases priced at $310. It would mark the first time that the entire Air Jordan series would be available at retail within one year. As you would expect, the Black Cement Air Jordan 3 "CDP" was one of the most anticipated of the releases, despite being paired with the polarizing Air Jordan XX design. While initially, the Air Jordan III "CDP" was viewed as less than other Black Cement colorways because of its shape and the lack of "Nike Air" on the heel, that didn’t stop it from selling out, or from collectors hunting down pairs to this day. With the nostalgic aspect of Michael Jordan wearing them in 1988 All Star game and Tinker Hatfield’s unparalleled sneaker design skills, the Black Cement Jordan 3 tends to be one of the most popular Air Jordans of all time, no matter when or how it releases. The 2008 Black Cement Air Jordan 3 "Countdown Pack" version might be dismissed by the purists but no matter what, an original colorway on the Air Jordan 3 will always be welcomed by most sneaker collectors.
