The New Balance 550 Triple Black, made out of a combination of leather and mesh, comes in an all-black color theme. The smooth leather covers the upper while the mesh is maintained at the tongue and collar.

The black tone also extends to the sole unit, insoles, laces, and lining. Branding elements for the sneaker include a tag on the tongue, the "N" symbol patches on the sides, a protruding "new balance" logo on the accented grey midsole, and a signature symbol at the rear. The midsole is made from EVA foam for cushioning.
