The Triple Black iteration of the New Balance XC-72 features an upper with a base of nylon mesh that offers a lightweight, breathable feel. A ribbed overlay at the heel provides structure as well as singular style. Suede-like synthetic overlays adorn the toecap and eyestays, while synthetic leather comprises the signature side-panel N.

The most impressive and eye-catching part of this sneaker is its sole unit. The black foam midsole extends past the heel to create a rear bumper. The black rubber outsole with thick traction lugs curves all the way up to the top of the upper on both the lateral and medial sides of the forefoot.
