On the heels of the October release of the film, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, StockX has teamed up with Marvel and Eisner-winning illustrator Sanford Greene to release a custom, limited-edition variant of the Black Panther #1 2016 comic book. Designed and illustrated by Greene, the variant cover comic will be released exclusively on StockX on Thursday, February 2 at 12 PM ET. The release is part of a long-standing partnership between StockX and Marvel that kicked off with a red carpet sponsorship at the premiere of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
“Black Panther is one of the first characters that I identified with when I was reading as a young kid. The whole nostalgia factor and what he represented for my upbringing, is what motivates me to draw the hero,” said Greene. “To have the opportunity to bring someone and something so dear to me to StockX’s global audience is the cherry on top of a really awesome experience.”
Priced at $40, the Marvel Black Panther #1 StockX Exclusive Black & White Sketch Variant Edition Comic Book will be sold in sets of 10. A collectible comic for the ages, the book tells the classic Black Panther #1 story (originally published in 2016), written by award-winning American author Ta-Nehesi Coates, and features custom cover art by Sanford Greene that punctuates his signature rugged and unfiltered style.
